HISTORY
Before moving to Australia, Will Wilson, Director and nominee, completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the USA. He then moved to New York City and begun designing, building and travelling theatrical sets around the world; most notably with STOMP, (the guys that bang on the rubbish bins). After travelling the world for so many years, Will now puts his creative energy towards making your home as good as it can be.
Will bought Macmays Services in 2001 as a maintenance (handyman) business, quickly earning a reputation for high quality work and communication. Before long, there was too much work for Will to do by himself and he began to employ people to keep up with demand.
In 2003, Will partnered with a licensed builder and begun to take on larger projects. Bathrooms, decks and structural repairs became the mainstays for Macmays Services. It wasn’t long until Shane Miers joined and quickly became a supervisor.
In 2005, Macmays completed a renovation of a large canal home in Minyama. It was the first project that involved an architect and the first where we transformed an entire home inside and out. The owners were ecstatic with the job and soon Macmays was renovating full houses regularly.
Will acquired his own builder’s license in 2005 and the business continued to grow.
Macmays Services incorporated in 2007; the full time staff swelled to seven in 2008 and Macmays began regular work with Adrian Ramsey Design and Riq de Carvalho from design de carvalho.
2008 saw us complete three full house renovations in a calendar year for the first time.
Our long history of maintenance, (fixing problems in existing homes) has given us a special insight into what causes the majority of problems in building. With this, we build quality from the inside, taking extra care to keep common building issues from occurring. Not only do Macmays homes look fantastic when finished but the look is built to last.
We proudly received the Master Builders award for Quality Workmanship in housing on the Sunshine Coast in 2009. While this award was given specifically in reference to one home (see Lubi’s in the gallery), we know that the award could have been given for any one of our projects of any size or scale. We approach all our work with the same attention to detail.
